Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - MY CRACKLING (5) finds the maiden win elusive but wasn't far away last start when beaten a neck at Penola. Rates highly on best figures and holds plenty of appeal on the quick back-up. Only needs to hold his form to take care of this field. ISUSPECTJEU (10) only warmed to her task late in the piece when resuming here off a long break two weeks ago. Among the leading chances with the run under her belt. STAR VALOUR (6) has found the line nicely in each of his three starts this campaign without threatening the winner. Draws to take closer order this now and should be peaking fourth-up. Holds claims. TUFF OPERATOR (7) next best.
RACE 2 - EL EXPLOSIVO (9) showed good improvement last start but found one better here over the same journey. Finds a suitable race and should be hitting his peak. Ready. ANDAMOOKA (7) fought on gamely into the frame here last start over 1000m to make it two minor placings in a row. Strips fitter third-up and looks the main danger. SACRED CHORD (4) stuck on gamely to the line when resuming here two weeks ago. Is sure to have come on with that run under his belt and now gets the blinkers on firs time to help him focus. Right in this. ROLLING DUCK (11) resumes and could sneak into the frame.
RACE 3 - UTILITARIAN (1) was a barnstorming winner fresh when resuming here last month. Went close to making it two on the bounce at the latest when taken forward. Versatile type that is well placed to enjoy more success. EXPRESS MASTER (6) closed off strongly last start to fill the frame when returning from a break here last start. Fitter now and will prove tough to hold out if close enough in the lane. DIAMENTE TAGLIATO (2) was far from his best here when resuming last start. Strips fitter and is much better than that fresh performance suggests. Watching for sharp improvement. Similar story for ROSE RING (5) who is also second-up.
RACE 4 - TIME WARRIOR (12) did well last start when giving backers a bolds sight but found a couple better here. Shoulders a handy record over the this track and trip and has enough early dash to offset the wide alley. Leading player. THOUSAND DEGREES (8) was unwanted in betting last time but lengthened nicely in the lane to score with a bit up his sleeve. Was only beaten a head here the start prior. Hard to fault recent form. TRYGVE (1) wasn't beaten that far last start despite finishing out of the placings. Hasn't won for a long time but is a course and distance specialist and is aided at the weights with the 2kg claimer engaged. Holds genuine claims. NASDANA (11) was solid first-up when filling the frame. Strips fitter and is a likely improver that is worth keeping onside.
RACE 5 - CHEF DE MISSION (7) has returned in terrific form this campaign as he shoots for the hat-trick. Not tougher this time in a very similar set-up. No reason he can't get the job done again. TOORAK BLAZE (1) got off the mark in nice style before heading for a spell back in April. Looks to have come back in good order on the back of a sharp trial here in readiness. Bold showing anticipated. CHILKO LAKE (6) improved sharply last start when scoring over the track and trip. Has been kept fresh for this with a month between runs. Drawn sticky but is among the main hopes. Makes plenty of appeal. SPIRITUAL GAL (12) will look to cross early from the wide alley. Struggled last start but is better than that run suggests. Expect her to be in this for a long way.
RACE 6 - HARD LEAF (11) showed good early pace here last time and kept going to with a bit up his sleeve to get off the mark. Tougher this time but gets in well at the weights with the 3kg claimer engaged and can now go on with it. SUPER SHARP (7) was in the money on the dirt at Roxby Downs two runs ago then backed it up with a win, also on dirt at Port Augusta. Drops back in trip of 56-day freshen. Hard to fault as he chases another win. Expected to feature. BELMONT AVENUE (8) scored narrowly over the track and trip last time. Down in the weights this time with the slight rise in grade and has winning hoop sticking. One of the contenders again. ONEMORE MARSHALL (9) did a great job to score over this course and distance when resuming from a break last start. Open to improvement and deserves respect.
RACE 7 - I NEED A DRINK (1) turned in a better effort last start to finish under a length away in second here. Boasts a strong record over this track and trip and is sure to run well. SUPER VALENTINE (6) doesn't win out of turn but ran a nice race last time out just missing the frame in fourth, only beaten 1.5L. Strips fitter third-up and will appreciate the added trip. Bold showing anticipated. JAMROCK (8) is another who doesn't boast a great winning strike rate but does rate well on best figures. Gets some nice weight off on the quick back-up and is drawn favourably for Crowther. Right in this. THE ART OF FLYING (2) wasn't as effective l last time out after a gutsy win the start prior. Can feature on his best form.
RACE 8 - TYDEUS (10) sat just off the speed and fought on well to finish second when resuming last start over this course and distance. Strips fitter and gets his chance to break a long run of outs. EVENING BRIDE (6) returned from a spell last start with a strong win by half a length over here. Drops back in trip second-up but is open to plenty of improvement and can make it two on the bounce. MESSERSCHMITT (4) settled well back last time then wound up strongly in the straight to finish third over this track and trip. Expect him to drift back again from the draw and be climbing over their backs late. KINGSON (12) has been kept fresh for his second-up assignment after a sound first-up run here. Is a track and trip specialist that needs to be included.
