Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - DIVINO CAVALLO (4) is a Pierro mare on debut for the Griffiths & De Kock team. Has worked well in readiness, impressing in most recent jump out at Cranbourne when cruising to the line under a throttle. Draws to get gun run. Bright start anticipated. OOCHIE MAGUCCHEE (7) has been well supported in both starts and has shown ability without breaking through. Should be hitting his straps third-up three weeks between runs. IN THAT MODE (2) is a son of Ambidexter on debut for the sharp juvenile stable of Clarken & O'Shea. Is a half to a handy enough one in Yuri Royale. Has shown positive signs in his lead-up work and is expected to make his presence felt. PRESS EXPRESS (9) resumes and can make her presence felt. Keeping safe.
RACE 2 - DOLCEMENTE (7) followed up her eye-catching fresh run with another fast finishing effort at the latest. Untested over this trip but it looks like she'll eat it up. Expect her to settle back early before letting rip. SAVSONIC (4) bounced back off a flat performance two starts ago, sticking on gamely into second last start. Drops back to a winning tip and reunites with a hot-hand hoop in Opperman. Sure to be very competitive. BIT OF A REBEL (1) didn't give his rivals a sniff two back at Halidon. Not as effective last start under the big weight here but gets help here with the 3kg claimer going on. Steps back out to a winning trip on a short turnaround. Holds genuine appeal. WHATSANAMEGEORGE (3) hit the line nicely when resuming on the Parks surface 15 days ago. Goes well second-up and will appreciate the added trip. Right in the mix.
RACE 3 - Small but competitive contest. GRINZINGER PRINCE (3) lengthened nicely in the lane when resuming here three weeks ago, taking good ground off his rivals to fill the frame. Is sure to have come on with that run under his belt as he steps out to a winning trip. Will prove hard to stop. JACKS ON ICE (6) has been mixing his form this time in but there's no doubting his best measures right up. Draws well for gun hoop Toeroek and can play a major role. GRAND IMPACT (2) returns a gelding for the Price & Kent Jnr team and has jumped out strongly in readiness. Drawn softly and is another that can have a say in the finish. MASTER EIGHT (1) was well below his best last start but had been racing well prior. Can add some juice to exotics. WATCHME WIN (8) was a smart winner two weeks ago. Tougher this time but can run boldly again.
RACE 4 - CAPULET (3) progressed sharply second-up when making a mess of his rivals at Wangaratta. Tougher this time but should have more to offer third-up. Obvious threat. BOONDOCKS (2) was a smart winner two back at Swan Hill when keeping them all at bay. Not as effective last start but was still solid. Gets a key booking in Toeroek and is worth serious thought. ROGUE ROCKER (1) lacks tactical speed so could land in a tricky spot from the inside alley but does possess a lethal turn of foot. Watch out for him if the gaps appear. BURNING BRIGHT (8) doesn't win out of turn but does rate highly on best figures. Has been freshened with a month break. Keeping safe under the light weight.
RACE 5 - LAVISH THINKER (1) was an eye-catcher two back at Sandown-Hillside when beaten 0.6L in a blanket finish. Was poised to make a statement last start on the Parks track but hit a flat spot in the lane, before picking back up late to fill the frame. Has been freshened with a 35-day break. The one to beat. RABTAT (3) is going well. Arrived just in time two back in what has proven a strong form race, and then closed off nicely into the placings here last start. Will appreciate the added trip and has Pannell sticking. Main danger. THEODOR (4) strips fitter third-up and draws kindly as he steps out in trip a month between runs. Could improve sharply. EXOPIPI (7) was a complete forgive last start when retiring from the race. Has since headed back to the trials and is up to this on best form.
RACE 6 - ZARKANA (5) made light work of her rivals last start over this track in trip. Not a great deal tougher this time, just has to carry more weight. Can repeat the dose. ENCIPHERING (3) has left himself with too much to do in both runs but has been closing off nicely. Nearing his peak now and will appreciate the added trip. Bold showing anticipated. EVEN SHARPER (2) has become quite the bridesmaid of late. Yet to be tested at the mile but the way he's been finishing off suggests it will be no problem. Holder reunites from a nice draw. In this up to his ears. OBI (9) admittedly hasn't won for a very long time but has been catching the eye. Drops back in trip and will be doing his best work late again. Holds claims if he hasn't completely forgotten how to win. Last-start maiden winner SUNDOGG (7) also deserves some thought.
RACE 7 - MISLUDI (13) is yet to strike through this campaign but has put the writing on the wall in her last two. Comes through some strong form races as she stays over a trip she relishes. Draws sticky but is expected to be getting right involved at the business end. THE STALKER (2) progressed sharply second-up when scoring with plenty up his sleeve at Balaklava. Tougher this time but deserves consideration. Fellow last-start winner ARTFUL TAWNY (3) is also in the mix second-up from a slightly better draw. Is another that will be saved up for a late charge. HALLSTATT (4) is drawn to take closer order after charging late to get the verdict on the Parks surface last time. Is another that holds claims.
RACE 8 - PRIVILEGED SON (2) has been ticking along superbly this campaign, adding another win to his tally last start over the 3000m at Moonee Valley. Lacks early speed but makes up for it with a strong sustaining dash home. Will prove very hard to hold out if close enough when turning for home. ARUGAMAMA (1) was no match for the top two at the latest but did chase gamely up the fence to just miss the frame. Suggests she's been looking for this trip and will run it out boldly. CALL ME VEXATIOUS (4) has only missed the frame once this time in from seven runs and that was first-up. Strips rock-hard fit on the quick back-up and will give herself every chance out in front. Sure to give another bold sight. DIXIE WHISTLER (3) is as true as the day is long. Loves this course and distance and comes in fresh. Right in this. STORMSARRIVED (8) hasn't been as effective in her last two but can run a better race over this trip.
RACE 9 - ROCKSTAR MEGGSY (9) chased gamely into the frame when resuming two weeks ago at Murray Bridge, running good time. Steps out to a winning trip second-up but will just need some luck from the draw. Watch for her climbing over their backs late. THE MANSMAN (13) bounced back stylishly to the winner's circle last start. Not drawn as kindly this time as he drops back in trip. Is another that will be charging hard at the business end. ANNIE'S ROSE (14) has been freshened with a 42-day. Has kept the legs ticking over with a trial win and keeps the blinkers on. Expect her to be more prominent from the better draw. Win won't shock. SURPRISE COMING (4) strips fitter third-up on the short turnaround. Loves this trip and gets in well at the weights with the 2kg claimer sticking. Right in this. DELIGHTFUL SHECKY (3) was in terrific form last campaign and will take some stopping if he returns in that form.
