Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - KONING (1) has been narrowly beaten his last three in stronger with the last in town. The extra metres won't bother and he rates clear in this contest. DIAMOND DISCOVERY (2) resumed over a mile in good order before disappointing over 2000m at Canberra. She's also in good hands and arrives here on a 7-day return. A much better effort is likely. STAND IN LINE (6) is a local knocking on the door. Steps up from the mile and JVO is off the above to rider. Maps well and can get into the finish. BELGRANO (4) will find this more suitable than Newcastle in the last two and Penza is back aboard replacing the 3kg apprentice.
RACE 2 - Tricky and the late betting will be instructive. DASHING RUPERT (2) debuts for a top Sydney barn with Alysha Collett in the saddle. He's won two Warwick Farm trials and only has to bring that form to race day to take beating. ROCK REVOLUTION (4) debuts for Waterhouse-Bott and is sure to be better than his trials suggest. He draws inside and may run them along. MARATHIA (9) also represents a sharp Sydney stable and will be better for his debut ouiting. He's been kept on the fresh side and keeps Adkins. GUN CONTROL (8) debuts and just missed in a Warwick Farm trial back in March. The inside gate should advantage and Cahill is a positive jockey booking. Keep safe.
RACE 3 - KREON (6) led and won by a space on debut heavily bet and was immediately spelled. He trialled well and started favourite at Randwick first up and had excuses. The in-form Heywood is reunited and fitter the entire can get back on track. FULL REVOLUTION (3) resumes and has switched to the Maher yard. She's had a trial and has placed 3/3 fresh. She's certainly good enough and can fight out the finish. NORTHUMBRIA (2) is third-up and ready to show more. He won his only start this track/trip and has been kept on the fresh side. ABSTRUSE (1) is a former Godolphin galloper who won at Moruya first up for the new barn and she's looking to make it three on the trot. She has more to give and also ha claims.
RACE 4 - HIGHWAY STRIP (4) was good on debut and resumed here with a comfortable Maiden win when he led. He's promising and Nick Heywood sticking aboard is a decent push for his chances. Heywood gets off THOUGHTFUL (3) following a plain run at Moruya when he was heavily beaten again. His two efforts prior were impressive so forgiving. Peaks now and a much better effort is anticipated. ANNOUNCING (1) is another local with claims. She just missed twice at the provincials last campaign and will be better for the first-up run after a barn switch. That was in a 72 at Randwick-Kensington and this is much more suitable. She's been kept on the fresh side. WHITE TIGHTS (7) was tracking along okay before the latest and will use the rail. Freshened and she should be around the mark.
RACE 5 - STROMNESS (8) was spelled off two heavily bet placings and she commences her second preparation today with a solid trial under the saddle. Heywood sticks and she won't have to be much improved to be winning. CANDI LASS (4) resumed off a wide gate at Moruya and did a good job of finishing so close. She maps well today and keeps the handy 2kg claim. Fitter she's a live hope. VORIAH (9) just missed in the same contest making sharp improvement. Uses an inside gate and keeps the 2kg claim. She may have turned the corner and has each-way claims. SIR LUNCHALOTS (3) debuts and has been impressive at the trials. Magorrian rode the latest and is aboard again. A decent hope bringing the form to race day.
RACE 6 - Competitive. MISCHIEF IN DUBAI (4) was much better at Newcastle second-up in better class and she has more up her sleeve. The Sydney-trained galloper maps well and can make it three wins from seven starts. RONNY ROCK ART (5) has been busting to win and there was only a half-length in it at Moruya last time. The gate is a bit awkward but the 3kg claim brings him right into it. GALACTIC ANGEL (6) races forward and has also been knocking on the door. She is back in grade and JVO is a positive jockey booking. THE GIFT (8) has won third-up and is a likely improver. Maps well and Heywood's booking creates interest.
RACE 7 - TACT (7) won a Rosehill trial but needed the run at Newcastle on debut. The well-bred colt maps well and sharp improvement is likely. HOOKHAM (2) is also metro-trained and comes right into it after scratchings. Usually needs a run but he has the ability and tipping he'll be presented forward this time around. DUBAI DAME (5) had been off the scene for a while and didn't do a bad job at Hawkesbury and four winners have come out of that. He can sit closer today and sharp improvement is likely. ALL GUCCI (1) showed enough at Hawkesbury on debut to say he can be around the mark.
RACE 8 - SHISUTA BO (6) is the one to beat building on the 1.9L defeat at Newcastle in a 64. She races forward and the step up to the mile suits. Winning rider Collett is reunited replacing Adkins. Tougher sorting the rest. Adkins replaces Collett on DOOLA TEELA (9) and she made good improvement at Wyong on a dryer track. She doesn't win out of turn but is suited in country grade. MANDALORIAN (10) ran a much better race at Newcastle and will be fitter again. He's in the mix. FAIRNESS IS BEST (3) is going well enough to consider. BUFF IN DISGUISE (1) is back in trip and won't be far away.
