Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - TIVACISAURUS (1) has set himself some tough asks of late as he continues to knock on the door of his maiden victory. The small field should see him closer in the run and Parnham knows him well enough now. Has a class edge on his rivals and today looks to be his day. BROWN MORN (3) will likely be ahead of Tivacisaurus in the run after finishing just behind that galloper on resumption 14 days ago. He was close to his best there and further improvement is likely with the run under his belt. Expected to make his presence felt. RAKIYA (7) steps out to this distance for the first time which looks to suit following her latest effort at Bunbury. On the quick turnaround and can in the finish. ILGIRO DELMONDO (5) is best of the rest.
RACE 2 - CHEST OUT SWAGGER (2) resumes without a trial after being tested in strong company in his debut campaign. Wasn't disgraced in the Sires Produce and showed good ability on debut over 1100m. Looks to have good ability and it wouldn't surprise to see him make an impact on resumption. GREAT EMOTION (7) showed positive signs when storming home over 1100m at Northam on debut and looks as though she'll relish the slight rise in trip. More experienced and fitter now, she's likely to get back in the run but watch for her storming over the top late. OVERREIGN (13) makes her debut for the McAuliffe barn following a good trial effort at Lark Hill on August 12. Whiting sticks from the trial and she won't be far away in what looks a suitable assignment. AH KUM (3) was tossed into the deep end last campaign but looks in good order judging by his recent trials. Can be in the finish. CALL TIME (10) is worth including off a nice trial win recently.
RACE 3 - PHAROAH SHOW (11) sat back in the run and closed off strongly on the Scarpside here 21 days ago with the form out of that race stacking up nicely. Drawn better today and the rating he produced fresh suggests he won't be a maiden for long. Looks to have good ability and can salute this time around. MISS WALL STREET (6) resumes today following a 1.5L defeat at Ascot to end last campaign. Only one trial coming in, but she was good in a similar race first-up last preparation and she draws a good gate. Chris Parnham rides and she's sure to go close. JUST LEROY (1) just missed over 1100m last start at Northam and it looks as though the slight rise in trip suits. Should be hitting his peak fitness now and he'll be storming right over the top of them late. LYN'S DAKOTA (10) resumed in good order following a long break and can build on that effort. LEMMOR (9) gets the blinkers on first time and is not to be discounted.
RACE 4 - SAFEKEEPER (5) is still looking for her maiden victory after bumping into a smart one over 1000m at Belmont. Out in trip appears ideal now and CJP hops in the saddle. Jumped favourite last start and looks hard to hold out with the improvement anticipated. SO NATAYA (8) caught the eye late on resumption when beaten 1.3L over this trip on the Scarpside circuit last time out. Chris Parnham remains in the saddle and while she is likely to get back in the run again, she'll be launching at them late. MANHATTAN JEWEL (6) showed good promise early last campaign and has trialled well coming in. Worth including. WHISTLING WARRIOR (9) is better than she showed last start and can bounce back.
RACE 5 - IMAROCK GOD (6) stuck on well behind a good winner last start, ending up just 1.3L off the winner over 1300m at Northam. Out in trip again today, but it should suit and the fact Chris Parnham sticks is a positive sign. Draw is a niggle, but his best form should see him getting the job done. HEZA GRUNT (10) showed enough on debut at Belmont when closing off to be 5.1L off the winner in heavy conditions. He had trialled well prior to that effort and the form out of the race has stacked up nicely. Rates well already and with improvement expected, he should make his presence felt. COULDHAVEBEEN (4) drops back in trip third-up following a 4.2L defeat last start after peaking on the run late. The wide alley is a niggle, though he does possess good early speed and he's expected to bounce back. CRYSTAL ROSE (11) is fitter now and draws a better gate which should see her in this for a very long way. EVERLASTING SPIRIT (12) can bounce back to form.
RACE 6 - Tricky race to assess down the straight. PIN DEEP (3) showed good signs throughout his last campaign and he's trialled well heading into this event today. He has the speed to get to the outside fence from the draw and the 3kg claim comes in handy. Will take catching out in front. NEW EXPRESSION (1) got a long way back last start but had shown good early speed in his runs prior. Suspect Hearn will try to be positive from the wide draw and his ratings hold up nicely in this field. Can put his best foot forward. UUKHAI (4) is better than he showed last start when beaten as favourite over this trip in tricky conditions. He has been prominent in the run in prior events which is where he performed best. Drawn ideally for the straight course and can bounce back in a big way. AROOCHACHA (8) resumed in good order over this trip at Belmont and is a course and distance winner previously. Has claims. MYTHICAL MISS (13) is better than she showed last start and is not to be discounted.
RACE 7 - MADE IN MEXICO (4) has been very impressive this campaign, just missing over this trip at Belmont as favourite last time out. This is a much easier race and although he has drawn inside, he has enough speed to get across. CJP rides and he just has to hold his form to be coming out on top. INFLUENCING (1) resumes on the back of a trial win against open company horses leading into this. He's won better races than this in his career and he draws well for the straight course. The trip is a little niggle, but he's sure to be strong to the line. MAGNUM CLASS (7) is usually thereabouts and has to be included with a strong track and distance record. PADDY'S FLYIN' (2) disappointed last start but is better than he showed there. Can bounce back dropping to midweek grade.
RACE 8 - MAJOR MARIO (2) steps out in trip which looks to suit following an eye-catching run over 1200m at Belmont last time out. Back to midweek company suits and Turner has a good record when riding this gelding. Ticks plenty of boxes and looks ready to return to winning ways. SIMPLY (6) resumes on the back of just one trial but should appreciate this trip first-up. He worked through the grades nicely last campaign and the booking of CJP suggests he may be ready to fire fresh. Can make his mark on resumption. JUST ADORABELLE (7) stormed over the top to win two back before bumping into a smart one at Belmont most recently. She's expected to get a long way back once again, but she'll be making plenty of inroads late in the race. WINNING ACES (11) is better than he showed last time out and can bounce back in a big way. HE'S ARCHIE (8) is in the mix if he brings his best.
