Ryan Moore's World Pool blog for Day 3 at York

Ryan Moore runs through his main chances at York this week

Ryan Moore’s World Pool blog: Nunthorpe Stakes Day

York | Race 4: G1 Nunthorpe Stakes

I’m looking forward to riding SAYIDAH DARIYAN. She’s an exciting filly and has already won at the course.

The step back to five furlongs (1000m) will hopefully suit her. She’s an improving filly in good form, and although she has to improve again, it’s an open division.

I rode Lady Iman at Goodwood, and I think she’ll be suited by the fast five furlongs. She’ll get taken into the race for a long way by the older sprinters and she gets a lot of weight so has to be of interest. You never quite know with a two-year-old taking on the battle-hardened sprinters, but she’s clearly got plenty of ability. There’s no way I could have got down to do the weight on her – I haven’t ridden that light since I was about 19!

Asfoora is a high-class filly. It hasn’t quite happened for her yet on this trip over, but she showed last year how good she can be, so I wouldn’t write her off, while Arizona Blaze has been running well all season and deserves to win a big one, so he’s an obvious danger too.

York | Race 6: Convivial Maiden

I’m on FRESCOBALDI here, who’s quite a similar type to another son of No Nay Never we won this with a couple of years ago called Battle Cry.

He’s got a solid level of form in maidens so far and is an improving horse, but you never know what you’re up against in a maiden like this so it’s hard to be confident.

York | Race 7: Mile Handicap

MONTPELLIER is stepping up to a mile (1600m) in the last race of the day.

He’s got a nice bit of experience and will hopefully improve for the trip as a son of Wootton Bassett.

He stuck on really well having been forced to drop in from a tricky high draw last time out at Goodwood so is interesting in here off just a pound higher.
