Ashman: Why Tom Kitten is a "great" bet for the Memsie Stakes

Tom Kitten is in the best form of his life ahead of the Memsie Stakes

Racing analyst Nic Ashman is brimming with confidence that two-time Group 1 winner Tom Kitten is in the best form of his life.

Speaking on SENTrack’s Giddy Up, Ashman broke down why the five-year-old Gelding is shaping up as an amazing bet to take out the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m).

“He’s been a bit of a money muncher throughout his career, but his ratings last preparation that he was posting suggest he’s as good as ever,” Ashman revealed.

“He’s going better now, I think he just needed that maturity - he’s got that maturity (now).

“He’ll go very close on Saturday, I reckon he’s a great one by two, two by four bet.”

Ashman also made a bold prediction about where Tom Kitten’s price will start in betting for the 2040m Cox Plate.

“I’m gonna make a prediction now, he’ll start single figures for a Cox Plate,” Ashman said.

SENTrack’s Gareth Hall agreed with Ashman’s testament on Tom Kitten, stating that the Gelding has reached superstar status.

“He came a long way last preparation, I reckon he really matured into a superstar,” Hall admitted.

“He should’ve won a race like this last preparation in the Futurity (Stakes), he was unlucky behind Mr Brightside and I Wish I Win.”
