Sandown Hillside Race 1 – Photograph

Smart win from this Godolphin two-year-old on a tricky day to assess. Times weren't fast in the circle races due to strong headwinds, meaning a lot of races were very slow early and then a dash home. That held true in the opener where Photograph ripped home in 21.81/11.33 for her last 400/200m, the second fastest of the day and only bettered by the benchmark 70 winning sprinter. She looks a handy sprinter in the making who can measure up to Saturday grade.

Canterbury Race 2 – Threatening

This three-year-old gelding looks to have come back well after a three run maiden campaign that didn't quite net a win. The tempo was strong here and he clearly relished it, picking up strongly late to grab third, beaten 0.6 lengths. The 1200m is definitely too short a trip for him having already been extended to 1500m last time in, and this run, despite the pace working out well for him, is a new career peak. Up to 1400m next start on a bigger track and he should be going close.
