Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - Former Victorian CHALICE WELL (7) looked good winning over this track and trip when having her first run for the new stable before two solid efforts at Ipswich and the Sunny Coast. Winning hoop Brooker reunites in the saddle and should get the run of the race from gate two. Rates the testing material. PRO FORMA (6) has been well in the betting in recent efforts and where there's smoke there's fire. Top-three aspirations on best form. RAFALE JOLIE (9) is usually thereabouts and gets in light with the claim. Looks one for the multiples. DAWYN'S CHOICE (8) draws the inside alley and can trouble the judge in the small field.
RACE 2 - MEANIE (10) has been just behind the placegetters in both starts to date, draws the inside alley and gets in well at the weights with the claim. Ticks plenty of boxes for a race of this nature. HUSSON'S TREASURE (2) was too bad to be true before the spell but go on the solid Ipswich runner-up effort on debut. Tuned up for this with a recent trial placing and is certainly worth another chance. MASTER NED (5) placed on debut and will have derived a stack of benefit from that race day experience. Include in calculations. MAGICAL EYE (8) put in an improved performance last time out and gets some weight off with the claim. Might earn a cheque. MR HANKY PANKY (16) best of the rest.
RACE 3 - LOADED GUN (3) loves this course and distance with two wins and a second from just three attempts and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside marble. Rates highly on best figures and should be right there when the judge calls a halt. PUROSANGUE (2) has won two of three overall and looks to have plenty of upside. Can run a race while fresh. GOODES (4) is a bit hit or miss but is more than capable enough on his day. In contention this time. CHEEK TO CHEEK (7) is a last-start maiden winner who will have taken some confidence from that victory. Shouldn't be slept on. MISS DE BLAAS (6) rounds out the selections.
RACE 4 - The well-related FOR BETTER (4) (full to G1 winner Port Lockroy) shed the maiden tag last time out and will have derived a stack of confidence from that breakthrough victory. Can go back-to-back from the favourable draw. HEROIC BEACH (2) is another to break the maiden status at the latest effort and winning rider Lenton sticks. Top-three credentials on that effort. HEAVENLY LOVE (1) got the job done over this track and trip at the latest outing and is drawn to get a gun run from the inside alley. Include in calculations. LUCKY NEKO (9) hails from an astute barn and gets 2kg off with the claim. In the mix.
RACE 5 - SHE'S GOT LYRICS (8) wasn't too far away at Toowoomba when resuming and will have come on with that run now in the locker. Ideally drawn for Allen in gate three and must be respected from the Gollan yard. Strikes a winnable contest here and looks very hard to toss. FRENCH EMPIRE (4) may have suffered from the dreaded second-up syndrome last time out but had hit the top-five in all six starts prior. Can return to form against this line-up. JEDIAH (15) has been thereabouts in all three runs this campaign and gets in light with the claim. Worth including. YOUCOMPLETEME (3) put in a career-best performance when resuming and looks to have turned the corner now. One for the exotics.
RACE 6 - QICKWIT (3) was a touch plain at the latest Kilcoy outing but the three runs prior were full of merit. Has a win and a second from three starts over this track and trip and gets 2kg weight relief with the claim. Can return to the winners' stall against this lot. QUARTER RED (5) has hit a purple patch of form of late with two wins and four placings from his past six starts and is racing with a lot of confidence. Has to be included. ESTE DIA (6) is better than recent efforts suggest and will be rock-hard fit for this. Draws favourably this time and will give backers a sight. BOLD AS BRASS (1) drops back in trip here and should be hitting the line with gusto. PABALLO (2) is usually thereabouts and is a must for the multiples.
RACE 7 - Open race to close out the card. DIVINE GEM (5) absolutely stonked them by five lengths over this course and distance at the latest effort and will have taken a bunch of confidence from that dominant victory. Winning rider Thomas stays on board and only needs some luck navigating from the sticky draw to play a big role in the finish. FLY FIFER (6) resumes here but the form she showed when last in work was good enough to be competitive in this contest. Gets 3kg off with the claim and can run a race while fresh. LONE FORCE (2) has placed at his past couple and will be rock-hard fit for this. Top-three contender if he brings his A-game. KAMARIYA (8) is two from two over this track and trip and draws perfectly in gate two. Shouldn't be discounted. BEAT HOLLOW (4) rounds out the selections.
