Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - Former NSW galloper CAPTAIN EAGLE (2) is having his first run for the new stable but has tuned up for this with a recent trial placing here and is sure to find this assignment easier than what he was facing down south. Drawn to get a cosy run in transit from gate two and looks the one they all have to run down. MISS LINNY (9) is unlucky to still be a maiden placing at her past four outings and strikes a very winnable contest here. Gets some weight off with the 2kg claim and looks to present some value despite the wide draw. Former Godolphin gelding MOTORBIKE (14) failed to finish at his first career effort but was well in the betting on that occasion. Respect any market confidence. KOBE ASCOT (3) has had a few chances but is usually thereabouts and may earn some minor money again. KING OF MINTO (6) has yet to have been produced publicly and a watch on betting is advised.
RACE 2 - IMMINENT BOOM (4) has gotten better with each career effort and looks to be building up to a maiden victory. Cartwright sticks following that last-start runner-up finish at Toowoomba and will strip fitter third-up from the spell. Rates the testing material. HEROIC REBEL (1) is facing the starter for the first time but was close up in a recent Gold Coast trial and is sure to be well-educated from the Gollan camp. Keep very safe. IMPERIAL RED (5) maps well from the low draw and can trouble the judge with the right run. CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS (18) strips fitter third-up from the spell and gets in well at the weights with the claim. Top-three commodity. WELLY (19) next best from the inside alley.
RACE 3 - One for the babies. HIT THE SWITCH (3) showed plenty of ability placing in town on debut and should find this assignment much more to his liking. Will have derived a stack of benefit from that race day experience and is sure to be right there when the whips are cracking. DESTINYS SUMMIT (2) broke the maiden status last time out and will have taken a bunch of confidence from that breakthrough victory. Winning hoop Hellyer sticks and can go back-to-back. EMJAY STAR (9) may have suffered from the dreaded second-up syndrome last time but go on the solid third at Ipswich when resuming. Worth another chance. MISHANI EXTREME (1) goes well for hoop Kendal who has two wins from just three steers. In the mix. I'LLTELLYOUTONIGHT (12) rounds out the selections light in the weights.
RACE 4 - The Kris Lees-prepared EXCEEDAQA (14) is an interesting runner who brings NSW formlines to the table. Looks to be very well placed weighted in on the minimum and will be ready to peak now fifth run back. A bold showing is expected. MONASTERY (1) loves this seven-furlong journey with two wins and two seconds from just five attempts. Drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley and should make his presence felt. GRAND CRUSADER (7) was a touch disappointing at the latest outing but the form prior was good enough for a race of this nature. Worth another chance. HURRICANE HARLOW (10) strips fitter third-up from the spell and maps well from gate two. Cannot be discounted. MISTER SELFIE (3) has won two of his past three and shouldn't be slept on.
RACE 5 - Looks a wide open affair with some value to be found. GOOGAZ (1) loves it here on his home circuit with two wins and two placings from just four spins and has tuned up for this with a recent trial victory. Drawn to get a gun run from the inside marble and should be hitting the line with gusto. WHISTLING SPIRIT (6) is two from two at this track and is more than capable enough on his day. Best figures measure up nicely. MOET AT MIDNIGHT (15) doesn't win out of turn but is usually thereabouts and looks a must for the exotics players. CONEY ISLAND BABY (3) boasts a win around this circuit and may run a big race while fresh. WONFORWAZZA (9) should be able to sit up on speed from the low draw and is sure to give backers a sight.
RACE 6 - HEADHUNTER (11) hasn't been too far away in tougher metropolitan contests this campaign and the form he showed in his first preparation was more than good enough for a race like this. Looks the runner in this field with the most upside and a return to the winners' stall would not surprise. RASHFORD (15) is another who has been plying his trade in town and is drawn to get a soft run from gate three. Among the leading chances if he brings his A-game. MISHANI GANGSTER (6) has hit the top-four in four of his past five starts and gets 2kg weight relief with the claim. Only needs some luck navigating from the sticky draw to be playing a role in the outcome. BAUHINIA ROCK (2) will be cherry-ripe now fifth-up from the spell and cannot be left out of calculations. The well-related CAPITAL BOSS (7) (half to G3 winner Shamalia) next in line at long odds.
RACE 7 - CARRAVILLA (6) has gotten better with each run this time in and looks to be building up to another victory. Likely contender with strong winning prospects. AMENOPHIS (2) saves his best form for this distance range and gets some weight relief with the 2kg claim. Top-three credentials if he brings his A-game. RUMBLING AWAY (5) will be high on confidence following that dominant Roma win and looks one for the multiples. KAIROS LOUIE (4) is one from one around this circuit and will strip fitter second-up from the break. Include in calculations. STAR CHANCE (14) is drawn to get a gun run in transit from the inside alley and may earn some minor money.
RACE 8 - PUNGO (1) is an honest campaigner who has hit the top-four in seven of his past eight starts and rarely puts in a poor one. Gets plenty of weight off with the 4kg claim and is drawn to get a perfect sit from the inside alley. Ticks plenty of boxes for a race like this. HOLLYWOOD EPIC (6) resumes here but has placed two from two when fresh and is another to get some weight relief. Can run a big race first-up. The well-related SHORE TO HAPPEN (11) (half to G3 winner Extra Time) has had two trials in preparation for this and has won first-up before. In the mix while fresh. BLACK MINTO (5) next in line from the favourable draw.
