Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - Tricky race to assess with most of these facing the starter for the first time. YUNA IS PIERATA (3) has looked good winning both trials, draws the inside alley and gets some weight relief with the claim. Hails from an astute yard and ticks plenty of boxes. HANNABANA (6) showed ability winning a recent trial and only needs some luck from the wide draw to play a role in the outcome. LUKEY BLUE (8) is another at the races for the first time and a watch on betting is advised. UNDER ARREST (2) next in line from the Bruce barn.
RACE 2 - STARSONUS (3) has placed three of four overall including two from two over this distance range. Strips fitter second-up from the spell and gets the reliable Gollan/Maloney combination. Rates the testing material. NOBLE DECREE (5) is unlucky to still be a maiden finishing runner-up in three of four starts to date and strikes a very winnable contest here. Can go one better against this lot. RUNAWAY TYCOON (6) was well in the betting in two starts before the spell and where there's smoke there's fire. Can run a race while fresh. BEANS MEANS (1) is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley and is usually thereabouts. One for the multiples. DAITANNA (12) has hit the top-four in all four outings to date and may earn some minor money again.
RACE 3 - MORE FOR READY (9) is knocking on the door of a maiden victory with two consecutive runner-up finishes this time in work and this is not an overly strong affair. Strips fitter third-up from the spell and Cartwright sticks in the irons. Rates the testing material. WINNING EDITION (11) has placed two from two over this track and trip and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside marble. Looms as the main danger. Former Victorian SAMMAAN CITY (6) is having his first run for the new stable but should find this easier than what he faced down south. A strong first-up showing would not surprise. DASHING HOPE (8) just missed the placings last time out in an improved performance. In the mix. The well-related RAGING (5) (half to G3 winner and 2xG2 placed She Shao Fly) rounds out the selections.
RACE 4 - DAZZLING DIAMOND (10) broke the maiden status at the latest effort and is sure to have derived a stack of confidence from that victory. Winning rider Colis stays on top and again gets the benefit of his 2kg claim. Sure to be right there when the whips are cracking. JENCHICK BOOM (8) was too bad to be true when resuming but the form she showed in her first preparation was good enough to feature in a race like this. Expected to bounce back. WRITTY (9) is one from one over this course and distance and is drawn to get a soft run in transit from gate two. Top-three credentials. LUMENS LENNY (2) has hit the top-five in all three runs this campaign and has placed two from three around this circuit. Can earn a cheque.
RACE 5 - SPARTUS (5) got the maiden out of the way here at the latest effort and is sure to have come on with that win now under the belt. Winning hoop Jones returns to the saddle and can make it back-to-back victories. GOLD FEVER (2) is a consistent conveyance who has only missed a drum once in nine starts since joining the new stable. Has to be included in calculations. ADDITION (6) resumes here but has revved up for this with two recent trials and the form she showed when last in work was full of merit. Top-three candidate while fresh. ETUDE (11) has placed in both runs this preparation and is one for the multiples. PRE EMINENCE (3) rounds out the selections with the claim from the low draw.
RACE 6 - ZOULAR (3) has finished runner-up in two of his past three starts and looks to be nearing a maiden victory. Looks the one they all have to run down. DUBIAS MISS (5) finished third when facing the starter for the first time and will have derived a bunch of benefit from that day at the races. Worth serious consideration. ROTHELLY (18) has just missed the placings at the past three starts and was well in the betting at the latest outing. In the mix. CHAMPAGNE ROUGE (11) strips fitter second-up and may earn a cheque.
RACE 7 - DEEP DAWN (8) has hit the top-four at her past four outings and looks to be nearing that elusive maiden victory. Will be rock-hard fit for this and can finally get the monkey off her back. Former Waterhouse/Bott galloper CASTERLY ROCK (1) has been right there in both starts since joining the Bruce yard and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley. Rates a genuine top-three contender. O'CALDINO (4) strips fitter third-up from the spell and gets Maloney on board to navigate from the wide draw. A win is not out of the equation. FIRE AND LIGHT (2) just ran into one better last time out and has been thereabouts in all six runs this campaign. May earn some minor money again.
RACE 8 - COOL PANELS (8) has placed one from one over this track and trip and is drawn to get a cosy run in transit from the inside marble. Should be right in the firing line. VALANTINO ROC (4) has just run into one better at the past couple and strikes a race decimated by scratchings. Rates a serious contender on recent efforts. EXPRESS PAYMENT (2) gets the Heathcote/Callow combination and cannot be ignored. PUCCINI DREAM (9) strips fitter second-up from the spell and goes well for hoop Collett. Top-three hope.
RACE 9 - HERMANITA (5) grows a leg for jockey Fenlon who has four wins and five placings from 11 steers and again gets the benefit of her claim. Should push forward from the wide draw and will give backers a sight. TREPORTI (4) is a two-time winner over this distance range and gets some weight relief with Lang's claim. Top-three aspirations. OUTSMARTED (7) has won four of five overall and is racing with a lot of confidence. Hard to ignore. The well-related BEAUTANTES (1) (half to G1 winner Startantes) strips fitter second-up from the spell and may earn some minor money.
RACE 10 - The well-related FIELD OF MYRTLE (8) (half to 2xG3 winner and G2 placed Holyfield) is one from one around this circuit and gets some weight off with the 2kg claim. Just ran into one better last time out and doesn't need to improve much to be fighting out the finish. ANAVINCI (6) also hails from a handy family (half to G2 winner Packing Rockstar) and just missed the placings at the latest effort. Is another to get some weight relief and rates a leading contender. CHERRY ROSE (7) has a solid winning strike rate and will strip fitter third-up from the spell. In the mix. SURFERS ROYALE (3) has won over this course and distance and gets winning rider Jones on top again. Top-three candidate.
