Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - The babies kick us off. The well-related PROFOUNDLY (2) (half to G3 winner Sebonack) wasn't too far away at Doomben on debut before a dominant win over this track and trip last time out. Winning rider Thornton stays in the stirrups and she should be going very close again. THEE CREEK (1) just ran into one better when facing the starter for the first time before just missing the placings in the QTIS Jewel at the latest effort. Not far away from shedding the maiden tag. ON POINT PIXIE (7) was a handy third on debut and will have derived some benefit from that race day experience. In the mix. ZARLA (8) is sure to be well-educated from the Heathcote barn and any market support must be respected. MEANER THAN EVIL (3) next in line.
RACE 2 - DIVAKARA (2) was a touch plain at the latest effort but the form prior to that disappointment was good enough for a race like this. Goes well for Wilson-Taylor who has two wins and three placings from just five rides and a bounce back to form would not surprise. FIOPROSPERO (3) looked good saluting over this course and distance last time out and Wheeler stays in the saddle. No reason why he can't go back-to-back. MANNERHEIM (5) has been just behind the placegetters at the past couple and gets in well at the weights with the 1.5kg claim. Top-three hope. JENNI MOREESE (12) has placed three from four around this circuit and is usually thereabouts. A must for the multiples. The well-related PEROVIC (4) (half to 2xG1 winner King's Legacy) strips fitter third-up from the spell and may earn some minor money.
RACE 3 - ROLLER COASTER (3) is a consistent conveyance who has hit the top-four in all four runs this preparation and will be at peak fitness for this. Looms as the main danger. BEDFORD SQUARE (1) has won around this circuit, draws the inside alley and gets some weight relief with the claim. Ticks a few boxes. OUTBURST (2) got the job done over this track and trip last time out and will have derived a stack of confidence from that victory. In the mix. CALM SEEKER (4) is another last-start winner who should not be underestimated.
RACE 4 - IMATRUESTAR (6) has looked good since joining the new stable with a strong mile win here two back before going down by a narrow margin last time out. Winning hoop Dolan sticks in the saddle and another strong showing would not surprise. TUHINGA (9) was well in the betting at the latest effort and didn't let supporters down with a solid Gold Coast victory. Will have taken some confidence from that win and can make it back-to-back. BOLDINHO (5) has been plying his trade in harder races down south and will find this assignment more to his liking. Look for sharp improvement. The penny has dropped for RED DEFCON (8) who has strung two wins together and it's hard to knock mares in form. Must be included in calculations.
RACE 5 - POLITICAL DEBATE (2) loves it here at Eagle Farm with a win and two placings from just three outings and only narrowly went down at the latest Gold Coast effort. Will be rock-hard fit for this after five runs back and looks the one they all have to catch. ANEMACORE (5) is an honest campaigner who has hit the top-four in all four runs this preparation and rarely puts in a poor one. Has to be considered. THAT'S MOLLY (4) has won two of her past three with Graham being in the saddle for both victories. Key runner who should be hitting the line with gusto. The well-related WARP SPEED (1) (half to G1 winner Nom Du Jeu) is a four-time winner here and gets 2kg weight relief with the claim. Capable enough on his day. CABOCHE (3) rounds out the selections in an open affair.
RACE 6 - SUPER DAISY (11) returned in fine fashion with a strong win over this course and distance and will have come on with that run now under the belt. Grows a leg for jockey Beriman who has four wins from as many steers and only needs some luck crossing from the wide draw to be playing a major role in the outcome. AVONE (8) is first-up here but has revved up for this with two solid trials and the form she showed when last in work was very respectable. Gets 3kg off and can run a big race while fresh. Former Victorian MIGHTY (13) wasn't too far away in her first run for the new stable and should find this easier than what she faced down south. In the mix. WILD BOTANICA (10) has two wins and three seconds from ten attempts over this sprint journey and is usually thereabouts. Top-three contender. ECONOMICS (4) next in line with the 2kg claim.
RACE 7 - SHIHAB (9) has a handy record over this journey with two wins and four placings from ten attempts and Melbourne Cup winning hoop Dolan sticks following that last-start victory. Expect another big run. CENTRESTONE (12) wasn't too far off them last time out and will be ready to peak now fourth-up. In the mix. MERCHANT FLYER (18) returns from a break. Ran sixth in a trial at Deagon. Opened last campaign with a third at Sunshine Coast over 1400m. Worth consideration. FINE SHOT (13) next in line.
RACE 8 - RHYTHM OF LOVE (15) resumes in this but has been plying his trade in much stiffer company in past campaigns and should appreciate the drop back in grade here. Has a solid fresh record with two wins and a second from four first-up attempts and has saluted on all going. Should be right there at the business end. MINTAKA LAD (11) saves his best form for this six-furlong journey and has been knocking on the door of late. Can make his presence felt. SUBSTANTIAL (5) returns from a lay-off. Placed in a recent trial. Opened last campaign with a fifth at Warwick Farm over 1400m. Can figure. BLUE SPINEL (12) best of the rest from the Gollan yard.
RACE 9 - BENZOU (7) was an impressive winner here when resuming over the 1000m and looks ready now for the step-up to the six-furlong trip. Graham sticks in the irons and can make it back-to-back wins to start the campaign. COSMO CENTAURUS (10) may have suffered from the dreaded second-up syndrome last time out but the strong Sunny Coast win to kick off the preparation was very good. Pay to forgive the latest effort. ASTAPOR (2) has won over this course and distance and strips fitter third-up from the spell. Top-three candidate. GIN A TONIC (4) races best over this 1200m trip and is usually thereabouts. Include in multiples. YABBY PUMP (8) brings NSW formlines to the table and will get a gun run from the inside alley. Hard to leave out.
RACE 10 - HELL (13) is building up an enviable record winning five of his past six starts including one over this course and distance. Gets a postage stamp on his back with the claim and has the talent to test this line-up. KING KAPA (2) is a three-time winner here on his home circuit and got a confidence-building victory at Doomben last time out. Kept ticking over with a recent trial win and should be right there when the judge calls a halt. COMPELLING TRUTH (6) has placed two from three around this circuit and strips fitter third-up from the break. Can earn some minor money. LOST IN TRANSIT (7) is a last-start victor who draws low and gets some weight relief. Ticks a few boxes.
