Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - LIKES TO CHANT (6) finds a much easier race today after being well beaten behind Shmoov Moova at Ascot most recently. Back to the 1000m journey today and back to country level, she may get back in the run but this looks much easier. Can shed the maiden tag this time. LADY COCO (5) can sit on the speed from the inside barrier and looks to be inching closer to her maiden win. She was good here over 1100m last star, just being edged out close to home. Visors replace the Blinkers now and this sets up nicely for her. OUTLAW MUSIC (1) gets the blinkers on first time today as he drops right back to Country level. He's disappointed this time in, but he peaked third-up last campaign at Bunbury. A repeat of that figure would see him hard to hold out. SANSANEE (4) is better than she showed last start at Pinjarra and has claims on her best form. A REBELLIOUS LOT (8) can make an impression on debut.
RACE 2 - CASSENITE (9) was solid first-up at Pinjarra over 1200m when a $16 chance but she looks well placed in this event today. She's back in grade, she draws well and Faithfull hops in the saddle. Fitter now and can get the job done. GETS THE GIRLS (4) drops back in trip and into Country grade as he should be hitting his peak fitness now. He's likely to get well back from the draw, but this looks an easier race on paper and a return to his best form can see him go close. ARAFISIO (7) rattled home from back in the pack first-up to just miss over 1230m first-up before a disappointing run most recently. Fitter now though and Yuill takes the ride. Won't be far away. HUNDRED YARDS (5) was big odds on debut and never fired a shot. This is a better race for him though and he can be in the finish. CALL TIME (10) turned in a nice trial in readiness for this and she can put her best foot forward.
RACE 3 - BLUE LINE (3) settled back in the run in the small field last start but was far too good over 1230m last time out. Back in trip this time is a little niggle, but he is a three-time winner at this track and trip. Can sit close to the speed and bring up back-to-back wins. FIRST LAW (5) ran over the top to score in a CL5 at Esperance last start over this trip. He is 0/3 at this track and trip, but he rates highly on his recent figures and he is sure to be there late in the race. STORM COMMANDER (1) should find a midfield position under ZJP and the claim comes in handy following a strong effort in this grade last start. He's 33 days between runs now, but he's a winner at this track and trip and he's sure to be there late in the race. VIA MONTE (7) finds a nice race and can be there at the pointy end.
RACE 4 - DODGE 'EM (2) improved well second-up and should be fitter for that run after sitting on the speed in a good race here last time out. Back to 1000m now and he should be on the speed from the draw once again. Form out of his last start has been good and he looks the one to beat. SHEZGOTTHALOT (6) was on the 5-day turnaround last time out at Esperance when 2.2L off the winner over 1300m. She's back to 1000m today and while she's likely to get back in the run, she'll be finishing off strongly late. Figures stack up and she won't be far away. LATE ARRIVAL (4) has turned in a good trial since his last start 91 days ago when trained in Victoria. He got up over much further in his previous campaign, but he showed good speed in his latest trial. Can make an impression. ALOTTA DANE (1) was a winner here three starts ago and comes back to 1000m now. Draws well and can play a role. SECRET STONES (5) is knocking on the door and can be in the finish again.
RACE 5 - TIME CONNECTION (3) sat on the speed and got the job done at Pinjarra last time out and steps up to the mile now. She was favourite there and the mile won't be an issue. Can land in a similar position this time and with further improvement to come, she can win again. SIDE SHOW (1) was in a much stronger race at Ascot last time out and wasn't disgraced there. He was a good winner two back at Belmont and this looks a great race for him. Maps to get every chance and can make his presence felt. WHERE'S MY LUNCH (5) was strong fresh at 1500m here and Hearn replaces the apprentice hoop. He was favourite there and he has the pace to cross from out wide. Fitter now and he can go one better without surprising. NADELL (4) was too good at Esperance last start and she can repeat the dose. PRAY FOR LUCY (7) can be in the mix if he runs up to recent efforts.
RACE 6 - WARRALEA LASS (2) couldn't bring up the hat-trick at Ascot last start when 4.6L off the winner over 2200m. She's well weighted despite what she's done recently and she draws a much better gate this time. Mahony's claim comes in handy and she can return to winning ways. WHAT A PRINCE (1) just missed last start over 1800m at Ascot when only 0.2L off the winner as a $31 chance in Saturday company. He should be close to the speed from barrier four and he'll appreciate this easier company. Racing well and can play a major role. DUCHEES DEMERIT (4) was good 16 days ago at Ascot over 2200m in Midweek company, running on from midfield to be 1.8L off the winner. Placed to advantage here and he can finish off strongly late in the race. PURE CHINO (10) comes into this with strong form and can make his presence felt. DEADLY AND FAST (6) is racing well and gets the Blinkers on again today. Drawn inside and can feature in the finish.
RACE 7 - SAULOK (3) missed out on the hat-trick last start when disappointing as the $3.40 equal favourite in a CL5 here 19 days ago. Back to 1500m is no issue and he has the speed to cross from gate 9. Happy to overlook one bad effort and he can return to winning ways. JUSTAMIDDY (2) was an impressive winner in a CL5 at this track most recently. He draws to get every chance once again and the 1.5kg claim comes in handy. Can go on with the job. KAMIKAZE FIGHTER (7) may not have run out the extra journey last time out at Narrogin but was a big winner here in Maiden grade two back. He returns to the scene of the crime now and a return to that level would see him right in the finish. FLYING SOUTH (1) should appreciate stepping up in trip now and Whiting has a positive record when riding the gelding. Can feature. MAKIN PROPHETS (9) is better than he showed last time out and is not to be discounted.
