Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - The babies kick us off with most of these facing the starter for the first time. Of the raced brigade, THEE CREEK (1) looked good finishing runner-up over this track and trip on debut before just missing the placings in the $500,000 QTIS Jewel last time out. Du Plessis sticks, draws low and has race experience over most of these. Ticks a few boxes. FIND ME (2) has shown ability placing in a recent trial and is sure to be well-educated from the Gollan yard. Gets some weight relief with the claim and any market support must be respected. LUKEY BLUE (21) beat Find Me at the trials and Smith stays on top for race day. Keep safe. The well-related WHISPERING ROGUE (19) (half to 2xG2 winner and G1 placed Whispering Brook) next in line.
RACE 2 - The well-related EXPLOSIVE POWER (1) (half to 3xG1 winner Explosive Jack) got the job done over this track and trip at the latest outing and looks to have plenty of upside. Rates the hardest to toss. MISTING (4) is one from one over this mile journey and will strip fitter second-up from the spell. Top-three commodity. LA COMETA (3) returned in good order with a close-up second at the Sunny Coast and can play a major role in the outcome on that effort. KOBABILITY (9) next in line in a race with only a handful of chances.
RACE 3 - GODZILLA (6) is knocking on the door of another victory with four consecutive placings and strikes a very winnable contest here. Gets the deadly Gollan/Maloney combination and should be going very close against this lot. EXPRESS PAYMENT (4) was a touch disappointing at the latest outing when well in the betting but where there's smoke there's fire. Boasts a win over this track and trip and can bounce right back to form here. SMART AS SMART (3) strips fitter third-up from the spell and should get a gun run in transit from gate two. In the mix. KATDEEL (5) best of the rest.
RACE 4 - TRUMP CARD (7) got the maiden out of the way at the latest Eagle Farm outing and Callow retains the ride after that breakthrough victory. Looks ready for the step-up in distance now and must be respected from the Vandyke yard. Rates the testing material. FARWEST (3) doesn't win out of turn but is usually thereabouts and has performed on all going. Should be hitting the line late. PROMISCUOUS GIRL (10) has been racing consistently of late and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley. Hard to knock mares in form. Former Victorian DILLIAN (2) is having his first run for the new stable but will find this easier than what he faced down south. Keep safe. SIGN OF PEACE (11) next in line with the 1.5kg claim.
RACE 5 - Competitive contest. ANTONITO (3) returned in fine fashion with a strong Eagle Farm victory and has a win and a second from just two attempts around this circuit. Drawn to sit up on speed from the inside marble and should give backers a sight. The lightly-raced SIMPLY EXCELS (8) is the runner in this field with the most upside and has to be included in calculations. HOLLYWOOD EPIC (7) is yet to miss a drum in eight career efforts and is a must for the exotics players. ROTHESAY'S LAD (5) strips fitter third-up and may earn some minor money from the favourable draw.
RACE 6 - Border hopper SAVOLDI (9) had been plying his trade in harder NSW races before getting the job done around this circuit at the latest effort. Will be high on confidence now and Wheeler stays on top. Big hope again. Former Victorian COLLEANO (10) is having his first run for the new stable but has tuned up for this with a recent trial victory and any market confidence must be noted. KING POTTER (13) is first-up here but the form he showed when last in work was good enough to feature in a race like this. Can run a race while fresh. I AM A MARVEL (8) has placed over this course and distance and will strip fitter third-up from the break. Top-three aspirations. SCRIPT WRITER (12) has hit the top-five in ten of his past 11 starts and may earn some minor money again.
RACE 7 - LADY LUCIFER (7) has gone bang bang to start this campaign and is racing with a lot of confidence at present. Looks ready for the extra furlong now and only needs some luck navigating from the sticky draw to be right there at the business end again. SUMMER SOIREE (6) is a consistent commodity who has hit the top-five at her past 12 outings and doesn't know how to put in a poor one. Has to be included. ADDITION (16) resumes here but has revved up for this with two recent trials and draws low for Maloney. Can run a race while fresh. CUTEPI (10) will be rock-hard fit and should make her presence felt for the Lees barn. MISS PERSONALITY (11) next in line in a contest that could turn out to be a solid form race.
