Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - ONE MORE STAR (10) made good late inroads on debut last start and is sure to have come on with that run under her belt. Gets a key booking in Crowther and rates a leading chance. PAMIERS (4) failed to live up to market expectations on debut but did catch the eye late. Draws to go back again but should be making his presence felt at the business end. GINGER SINNER (3) showed positive signs in his debut prep but now returns for a new stable. Right in this with any improvement. EFFUSIV (14) went amiss on debut when in the market but her two trials prior to her first start were promising. Can improve sharply at her second start.
RACE 2 - NOVELA (3) worked hard early to cross from his wide draw, and while he couldn't threaten the winner, he never shirked the task. Strips rock-hard fit now and is drawn to advantage. Will take some beating. FUTURE COMMAND (6) has struggled in his last two but has been tackling stiffer opposition. Much better suited back at this level and looks the main danger. PIANTA (4) returns and makes his stable debut for the rising Bain & Taylor stable who do a terrific job with tried horses. Has been readied with Murray Bridge trial placing and can make a bright start. FOREVER WILD (9) lacks early speed but can cause them a late scare if they overdo it early. Keeping safe.
RACE 3 - BRIMARVI ROSEMARIE (10) has found it tough to get off the mark but doesn't do herself any favours with a lack of tactical speed. Will appreciate stepping out over the added trip and has Nunes sticking fourth-up. Expecting sharp improvement. ONLYCHANCEWEGET (3) didn't threaten fresh but tackled a hot maiden. Has been freshened with 46 days in between and looks better suited at this distance. LIGHT MY WAY (11) failed to fire a shot on debut despite the market support. Trialled well prior to debut so willing to give another chance with Neindorf sticking. Will grow more confidence if the market likes her. SENGOKI (4) showed improvement last start at Streaky Bay when finishing in the frame. Is open to further improvement third-up over a longer trip and has the 3kg claimer sticking to get him in well at the weights. Can make an impact.
RACE 4 - TAKEN ON FAITH (11) was much better last start when flashing home to miss by a lip at Oakbank after being sent out favourite. Peaking now and should relish the added trip. Ready. LITTLE CHICAGO (4) dug deep to hold off TOF last start to shed his maiden tag. Only lugs an extra kilo off the win and draws well again. Has to be taken seriously. CARASHAN CHLOE (10) chased gamely into the frame when resuming at Port Lincoln. Is sure to have come on with that run under her belt and gets in low at the weights. Watch for her charging late. GRAND MAXIM (2) was a track and trip winner here two starts ago when leading pillar-to-post. Placed to play a more significant role.
RACE 5 - KATIM'S CLUB (2) has failed to threaten in her last two but has found some handy enough rivals. Profiles strongly on the short turnaround and gets the blinkers on first time to sharpen her up. Two-time winner at this track, expect her to take closer order and prove hard to stop. CHAMPAGNE EFFORT (1) offered little last start when sent around long odds but had been ticking along nicely previously in a similar grade to this. Neindorf piloting for Stokes reads favourably. Worth forgiving. Smaller cases can also be made for OUR GODDESS (5) and PIWHANE (6) on best figures. Keeping safe.
RACE 6 - FOSTER STREET (8) struggled to run on in the lane after turning rearward but had been catching the eye prior with some strong chasing efforts. Holds plenty of intrigue on the quick back-up with winning hoop in Pannell reuniting. SIX STARS (2) has been far from his best in his two runs back but is from a smart stable and can improve sharply back in grade. 3kg claimer goes on to aid the big weight. TINY REBEL (5) showed good tactical speed last start at Strathalbyn, just fading late. Is another on the quick back-up that can play a major role. INNER SANCTUM (10) was better last start and carries a feather on his back again with the claimer sticking. Don't underestimate.
RACE 7 - WALLY WEST (2) has frustrated punters throughout his career but there's little doubting he has more ability than his record suggests. All depends on which Wally turns up. Giving him one more chance. TARA RANI (4) has returned in good order with two strong efforts at Oakbank. Nearing peak now and is drawn to get all the favours. The logical play. SUMAMBISTARR (3) was a barnstorming winner two back at Clare when coming from a long way back. Went close to making it two on the trot last start. Going well and should be competitive. MIDNIGHT HARRY (1) makes his stable debut for the in-form Bain & Taylor partnership who have a great knack of getting horses back to their best. Take seriously if the market sides with him.
RACE 8 - GRUELLING (3) has been thereabouts in his two runs back in what have subsequently proven strong form races. Hitting his steps now out the mile third-up and is drawn to get the gun run. Ready. COLLATED (1) made light work of his maiden last start at Mt Gambier when sent around red odds. Has ability and there's no reason he can't go on with it now. I'M KENNY (4) doesn't win out of turn but is as tough as old boots. Boasts a solid record over this trip and possesses an advantageous racing pattern. Lai claims 2kg to aid at the weights. Don't dismiss easily. SHADOW EXPRESS (5) strips fit and can run a drum.
