Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - PREFER TO DANCE (3) was beaten 1.2L on the Sunshine Coast poly on debut over this distance. Will strip fitter and just has to bring the form to the turf to go close. Each way. TOP LEVEL (9) resumed here and needed the outing. Placed this track/trip prior and quick improvement is anticipated. HURRICANE ROSIE (8) has needed the two runs this preparation. Has more to give and is suited stepping up to the mile. Maps to get every chance. DIVAS REIGN (4) races forward and is in the mix.
RACE 2 - DRACENA (7) just missed here first-up and has more up the sleeve. Maps for a soft run and is worth another chance over a mile. POSSIBILITIES (12) has been beaten a whisker here and at Doomben and the step up to the mile will suit. Is on a 7-day return and look for him late. Waller-trained stablemate AVIOR (5) went close this trip at Eagle Farm improving again. Races forward and has each-way claims. HANG OUT (1) finds much easier and will be better for the run over the trip.
RACE 3 - Competitive. FLAME TREE STAR (6) has been nudged out all three runs this campaign and has been heavily supported at her last two. Maps for the run of the race and can go one better. MISS TRUSTFUL (5) also presents fourth up and is still shy of her best. She can also feature at each-way odds. COLE'S BEST (2) raced at a short quote again when comfortably winning at Dalby first-up. Seeks the hat-trick and is showing plenty of promise. Sure to be fancied. SILVA 'N' SUAVE (1) led and improved at the Gold Coast before being out-graded at the Sunshine Coast. Has a handy 3kg claim and has been kept fresh. Has to be considered. LOVE 'N' ROCKETS (4) is in the top barn and is a chance to go on.
RACE 4 - SER JOH (6) has raced in stronger Maidens and resumed off an 8.3L Doomben trial win with a satisfactory effort on a heavy track. He can improve quickly and Orman is a key jockey switch. The one to beat with average luck from the awkward gate. TSZYUYA (14) was in the market on debut but settled too far back from an outside gate. He's since trialled well at Doomben and draws inside today. In the premier barn and hard to risk. Stablemate NO BRAKES (5) resumes. May need one but will also be naturally improved and jumps from an inside barrier. DARLING TAKE CARE (10) went close at Ballina and Huxtable replaces the apprentice. In the mix.
RACE 5 - MR GALAZI (3) led beaten a whisker at Doomben and then missed as favourite at the Sunshine Coast (slow post-race recovery. The speedy galloper has won 2/2 this course/distance and has been briefly freshened. Maps well and gets the nod. WRITTLE (1) won here over this trip and then drew wide in stronger at Eagle Farm and didn't do a bad job. Maps for a soft run today and dropping back to this distance will suit. He can bounce back. RUSSIAN PINS (8) brings a win and near-miss this track/distance and stays down in the weights in stronger. She will skip over to the speed and is sure to give a sight. KAT CHINNA (4) has a low barrier today and Rodd replaces the apprentice. He's going well enough to consider.
RACE 6 - CERTAINLYCAN (2) peaks for the premier barn (Gollan) and has been racing in stronger city contests. Maps for the run of the race races and Orman sticking aboard is a positive. Suited and will take beating. LINE OF LAW (11) switched from a leading Sydney barn and will be better for the two tidy efforts at 58 level. She will carry a feather this level with 2kg claim atop and that brings her into it. Each way. CAXTON LASS (4) has more to offer third-up and is in the mix. GILIANA (6) is worth keeping onside. Gollan also lines up TO WISH (9) and GILIANA (6) and the pair are going well enough to consider. The former has the inside barrier and should get every chance under Jones. CAXTON LASS (4) is also in the mix.
RACE 7 - FIELD OF MYRTLE (10) needed the first up outing and will improve quickly with that under the saddle. Mallyon stays aboard and will use the inside barrier. Has plenty to give. GREAT ASPIRATIONS (4) found a Quality too tough on a heavy track but has prior form that would give him a live chance. In the premier barn and x3 winning rider Maloney is reunited. TWYFORD (5) will likely push forward and run along. I sure to give a sight. DISNEY CASTLE (1) pulled up with heat stress in stronger at Eagle Farm and drops back to a sprint briefly freshened. Has the ability and Orman rides first time. Goes well at this course/distance and deserves consideration. BADGERS NUTS (2) resumed further improved and it was a big effort after settling last in a sizable field. Maps well today and is proven second-up. All four wins have been over this distance.
