Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - YORGA PRIDE (1) resumes in the opener and she looks to have plenty of upside. Her trial coming into this was solid and the form out of both her wins last campaign produced numerous winners. CJP remains in the saddle and she can pick up where she left off last preparation. RISING FAME (5) was solid on debut over 1000m here a fortnight ago despite finishing 4.4L off the winner. She may have found them too quick over the shorter trip last start and the extra furlong today looks to suit. Can be right in the finish. DIAMOND DANCER (4) was tested in Group company before a 3.8L defeat over this course and distance as favourite a fortnight ago. This looks to shape similarly, though she should be fitter for that latest effort. Chris Parnham sticks, the blinkers come off and she can improve. ANOTHER LOVE (2) finished behind Rising Fame last time out and has to be included.
RACE 2 - Tricky race. OPAL TANGO (14) steps out to 1800m for the first time, but she does have the upside of being a 3YO on the way up. She stuck on gamely over 1500m at Pinjarra and the rise in trip looks to suit. Down in the weights, she looks the most appealing. BUZZ THE TOWER (4) was fancied on debut when a $6.50 chance but he didn't give himself much of a chance. He'll be better for that effort and Chris Parnham remaining with him is a positive sign. Can sit a touch closer today and put himself in the finish. EXTRA ZERO (5) disappointed in a similar race over this track and trip a fortnight ago, though his prior performances suggested he was on an upward trajectory. Happy to overlook one poor effort and now the senior jockey replaces the apprentice. Looks an improver. POINT OF LUCK (11) steps out to this trip for the first time which looks to suit. Can play a role. PUSH TO PLAY (6) is another who can improve stepping out to this distance for the first time.
RACE 3 - HOUSEWIFE (5) won well two back before a 2.1L defeat most recently. CJP hops back in the saddle now in a big tick for her chances and she's still a lightly raced filly with upside. Can settle in a good position and land the knockout blow. SUNLIT FRESCO (2) dropped back to the 1000m journey and ran in the Summer Scorcher last time out, beaten only 3.5L. Up in trip is a key to hey chances and she's been impressive over similar trips recently. Can find the front and prove hard to run down. CHINO LA DIVA (3) is looking for the hat-trick and should get her chance from an inside barrier. DIRTY CHAI (4) can play a role on resumption.
RACE 4 - SKYTALKER (1) was strong first-up when beaten 1.9L as favourite at Pinjarra before dipping in his form at Albany last time out. That was a very strong race though and he drops right back in grade today. Barrier 11 may be a niggle, but his best form is good enough to be winning a race like this. RIVERCREST MAGIC (9) is another who was a little below her best last start, finishing 4.2L off the winner at Pinjarra. Her form prior suggested a win wasn't far away and she maps well for Turner. Can bounce back. THE HILL TRIBE (2) was just fair first-up at Pinjarra but tends to improve with racing. CJP riding is a big tick. KERMIT'S LUCK (5) can improve off a sound first-up effort.
RACE 5 - NATIVE FLOWER (6) is building nicely this campaign, going under narrowly at Pinjarra to an in-form galloper most recently. Now at the peak of her powers third-up, she strikes a very suitable race and she has more room for improvement. Can end her winning drought today. PROMISING (7) led down the straight at Pinjarra and scored comfortably before finishing 2.8L away in Saturday company at this track last time out. She rises in trip now, but dropping back in grade looks a big tick. Maps for a lovely run and should be hard to beat. CANNY ROCK (1) was sound first-up over 1000m here and has placed 2/3 second-up in the past. The wide draw is a little sticky, but he should be improved from the fresh effort and he won't be far away. GOOD VIBES (2) is third-up today and can make her presence felt. NATURAL GEM (4) can build on the strong fresh effort.
RACE 6 - LIEUTENANT DUNBAR (3) looks to have his hoof on the till following a 0.6L defeat at this track and trip last time out. He boasts a strong third-up record and this looks to shape similarly to his latest effort. At his top now and should be very hard to reel in. GOLDEN DORE (1) scored by 2.9L at Albany last start in an effort that was very hard to ignore. He's lightly raced and open to plenty of improvement, especially as that win came off a 59-day break. Looks to have some class and he can put that on display here. CAPORETTO (8) was just 1.1L away last time out when finishing behind Lieutenant Dunbar. Chris Parnham remains in the saddle and he may be able to sit a little closer from the inside draw today. Ticks a few boxes and is worth thought. CHOIXWAY (2) won well first-up at Geraldton and is in the mix. CAPO VELOCE (5) is better than he's shown his past couple and can get back to his best now third-up.
RACE 7 - ROMMEL'S GODDESS (10) was far too good last time out when running over the top tow score by 0.3L at this track and trip. She looks a nice mare on the way up and the wide draw doesn't hurt. She will carry a little more weight today, but a repeat effort will see her bring up back-to-back wins. MISSILE STORM (6) resumes today with one trial under his belt. He was placed first-up last campaign under similar circumstances and he should be handy from a good barrier today. Can play a major role. CANGGU (11) couldn't hold on at Bunbury last time out and drops back in distance today after a 31-day freshen. Faithfull has a good record aboard the gelding and he should be prominent from the alley. Can bounce back to form. ALLEGRO SONATA (2) will want further in time but she can run a cheeky race fresh. AXEMAN'S JAZZ (1) has the ability but has spent a long time off the scene. CJP riding is a tick but the market will tell the story.
