Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - LOVE SO SWEET (8) turned in a decent effort last start to finish second over this track and trip. Suitably placed so anticipating another big run. VALKUR (11) is finding the breakthrough elusive but was a solid fifth at her latest appearance over 1200m at Naracoorte. Should be poised just off the lead and is one of the key hopes. REPTILIAN (10) returns and did hit the frame when last resuming at Murray Bridge over this trip. In a different yard now and can make a bright start. CASPER DE LUNE (2) was always well out of his ground here last start, a less impressive effort than his fourth on debut at this track the run before. In the mix this time.
RACE 2 - EL EXPLOSIVO (8) has been in the placings four times from eight outings. Has a sound record here with four top-three finishes from six starts. Nicely placed and expected to go very well. MAHENO (2) finished just under a length from the winner in fourth last start over 1350m at this track, an improvement on his run at Strathalbyn the run before. Has his share of talent. Hard to beat in this suitable race. I'M A MILLENNIAL (1) ran a better race when he made late ground and finished under a length away in fifth last time out here. Well placed and there is no reason he cannot find winning ways. SACRED CHORD (3) finished third last time here. Will trim down following recent racing. Nicely placed to fill a top-three spot again.
RACE 3 - OPAL BEACH (8) did a great job to score by a long neck over this course and distance last start to maintain her good form of late. Nicely placed to take this out. LADYMEANSBUSINESS (6) doesn't win out of turn but holds peaks good enough to take this out. Was again denied last start when she found one better here. In the right race and there is no reason she cannot get the major prize. CHEF DE MISSION (1) was in the money two starts back at this track but couldn't back it up last time when seventh, beaten 2L, at this track over 1000m. Has a solid record at this course and distance, including three wins. Best figures measure up nicely. Sure to run well. LAVA LAD (9) next best.
RACE 4 - FOX DUNNETT (1) finished sixth two runs back at this track then improved last time out to score by a nose as favourite over 1350m at this track. Suitably placed so anticipating another big run. JENNI ESPRIT (5) returned from a spell a week ago when she was in contention on the turn before fading late at Naracoorte. Stepping up a level this time but with added fitness she is good enough to take this out. KINGSON (2) finished sixth last time out over 1000m at this track a week-and-a-half ago. Tackles a longer journey this time. Leading hope. SUTADAMU (4) showed good speed here last time until tiring late. Can sneak into the finish.
RACE 5 - ISUSPECTJEU (4) has a moderate winning strike-rate but performed well last time at this track, finishing a narrow second over this trip. Has started three times at this course and distance and is yet to miss the placings. Suitably placed so anticipating a big run this time. INTO THE WOOD (1) accounted for a maiden field over 1350m at this track last start, finishing half a length ahead of the nearest rival. Capable of making it two on the trot. ZOFFERELLA (9) made progress last time out, finishing 2 lengths from the winner in third over this track and trip. Nicely placed to take this out. SPEAKEASY (5) finished second at Bordertown two runs back but was less effective last time. Looks well placed so expect a better run this time.
RACE 6 - SUPER VALENTINE (5) doesn't win often but ran a nice race last time out over 1960m at this track, finishing third after being in contention on the corner. Has a solid record at this course and distance, including a win and two minor placings. It doesn't get any easier but on his best form he can measure right up. ORIEDOS (11) doesn't boast the best winning strike rate but ran a nice race last time out, finishing fourth and beaten only 1.5L over 1350m at this track when he worked home well. Steps up a level but he is up to the task. BELMONT AVENUE (8) was expected to do more last start when out of the placings. Holds genuine claims on best form and is worth following up. EXCELMAN (1) has hit the line strongly in his two runs back and sets up well for this. Expect him to drift back again from the draw and be climbing over their backs at the business end.
RACE 7 - TICK TOCK BOOM (9) just missed last time when a head away in third at Murray Bridge over 1400m. Expected to go well. RICH GINA (1) settled well back last start and never threatened at Gawler. This is a nice drop in grade so she is sure to be prominent. SOLAR MIST (6) ran a better race when finishing under a length away in fifth last time out over 1210m at this track. Has his share of ability. Right in the mix. MIDNIGHT RULER (2) showed good early speed from the inside draw last time and stalked the lead before going on to record a neck here. Has a strong association with Potter who has been in the saddle for his last two wins. Have to take seriously.
RACE 8 - LIMBERING (8) didn't do a bad job when fourth last start after being in contention on the turn over 1200m at Murray Bridge, beaten 2.75 lengths. That followed a win at Strathalbyn the start prior. Beautifully placed and is sure to take a ton of beating. ALL CLUBS (6) went forward and proved too strong last time out, scoring by a long neck here. In a suitable race and can go on to take this out. I'M A DEXSTAR (2) showed good early dash before weakening into sixth over 1500m at Gawler last time out. Top strike rate at the journey with two wins and two placings from four starts and should play a big role. MESSERSCHMITT (3) is ticking along nicely and only needs to hold his form to be very competitive.
RACE 9 - HUNTLEY LADY (7) has switched yards since finishing fifth five weeks ago over 1400m at Murray Bridge. Makes plenty of appeal in the new surrounds. MYOCEAN WARRIOR (13) finished just under 2L away from the winner last time at Clare on a soft track and drops in the weights. Blinkers come off now. Should go well. SUZIDO (9) has been kept fresh since finishing fifth over 1009m at Yarra Valley. Kept up to the mark with a recent Oakbank trial win. Deserves plenty of respect. UTILITARIAN (1) was from his best last start here but had been ticking along much better prior. Can bounce back sharply.
