Call Di entered the ring almost 300 lots into the marathon session, but the blueblood mare proved worth the wait when she topped the second day of Magic Millions' National Broodmare Sale.

The daughter of Frankel was one of 10 seven-figure lots on the day dedicated to mares in-foal but the only to go for more than $2m when knocked down to Yulong for $2.1 million.

A Group 2-placed daughter of former champion filly Samantha Miss, Call Di is in-foal to Extreme Choice and Yulong chief operating officer Sam Fairgray she had everything they were looking for.

"She's by a champion sire, out of a champion, her granddam's a champion sire and she's in-foal to champion sire," he said.

"She's a lovely mare and I'm sure she'll leave a very, very nice Extreme Choice."

Call Di was one five mares in-foal to star Newgate stallion Extreme Choice on Wednesday and Yulong bought another two.

The Victorian farm paid $1.3m for Pins mare Finepoint and $900,000 for Ravisher, a daughter of I Am Invincible.

Call Di was also not Samantha Miss's only daughter secured by Yulong on Wednesday, having earlier gone to $1.25m for Miss Enfield, an unraced daughter of I Am Invincible who is in-foal to Wootton Bassett.

Yulong also bought two of the three Group 1 winners offered on Wednesday, paying $1.45m for VRC Oaks winner Aristia, who is in-foal to I Am Invincible, and $1.25m for Kiwi Group 1 winner Ulanova, who is carrying a foal by Zoustar.

Volpe Veloce, a Group 1 Railway Stakes winner in New Zealand, is headed elsewhere with David Johnson paying $1m for the mare in-foal to I Am Invincible on behalf of Danny Molloy.

Wednesday's good results helped swell the sale gross to $86,274,500 million with mares selling at a rate of 77 percent for a $247,915 average with a $90,000 median.

Last year's sale, when more than 100 mares were offered, grossed $97,687,500 at an average of $205,658 with a $95,000 median, thanks to an 84 percent clearance rate.
