Photographics captures Midway

Photographics had trainer John Sargent scratching his head after her last start performance, but all was forgiven as she rebounded to take out the Midway Handicap (1000m) at Randwick.

A strong first-up winner over Saturday's course and distance in December, the filly disappointed at Warwick Farm when she was wayward in the run.

"It was very hot that day and she got quite wound up being away from home and ran off the track," Sargent said.

"I just put it down to a bad day."

It was a different scenario on Saturday as apprentice Molly Bourke found a beautiful position trailing the speed and Photographics ($9) let down nicely to score by 1-1/4 lengths over Shall Be ($4.80) with Everyone's A Star ($21) another short head away third.

The win has extra significance for Sargent as Photographics is a family affair.

"It's great for the family because my kids own twenty-five per cent of her each. I gave it to them with no training fees, so they're very happy," he said.

"The 1000-metres is her go. A lot of speed and she relaxes."

Cummings unsuccessful in stay application

Anthony Cummings looks set to be forced to vacate his historic Randwick stables after having his application for a stay of proceedings rejected by the Racing Appeals Tribunal.

A third generation trainer, Cummings was reportedly informed of the decision on Friday following Racing NSW's move to cancel his licence earlier in the week due to ongoing financial issues.

He was given seven days to vacate the Leilani Lodge premises which were formerly operated by his legendary father, Bart.

While Cummings has lodged an appeal, no date has yet been set for the hearing, but his hopes of continuing to train under a stay of proceedings have been dashed.

Cummings had two horses scheduled to run on Saturday but both had to be withdrawn, including Manwe in the opening race at Randwick.

Scone next stop for Yorkshire

John O'Shea has heaped high praise on apprentice Anna Roper after her polished ride aboard the promising Yorkshire in the Wellington Racing Club Trophy.

Lumping 58kg after Roper's three-kilo claim, Yorkshire enjoyed a beautiful run behind the speed and Roper didn't panic when he took time to wind up in the straight, letting him go through his gears before surging to a comfortable 1-1/4 length win over Sandpaper.

"She rode him beautifully, showed immense poise for a three-kilo claimer and I've got an enormous opinion of Anna and the horse," O'Shea said.

"She has been coming in doing a bit of work for us once a week and it's good to repay her efforts by putting her on a nice horse.

"He's got a really bright future. He'll have a little break now and come back in the latter part of the carnival. We'll get him up to Scone and see if he can't qualify for the Big Dance."

The win was Yorkshire's third in succession and his first over a mile.

With an array of lucrative races in that distance range, O'Shea is happy to restrict Yorkshire to 1600m for now with The Ingham in December also a long-term option.

However, first stop will be the Scone Cup (1600m) on May 16, which carries eligibility for the $3 million Big Dance (1600m) at Randwick on Melbourne Cup day.

"It's a big, spacious track and occasionally it can be a little bit damp, which won't worry him. I think it's a nice progression for him," O'Shea said.

Roper's afternoon soured a little when she was later suspended over two separate careless riding incidents. She will be sidelined until March 8.
