The carnival begins to heat up at Eagle Farm on Saturday and with some competitive racing in store we’re looking for some value with a couple of each way plays at the tail of the program.

The first of those is Overriding in the Listed Brisbane Mile.

She heads north after landing a win in the Muswellbrok Cup at Newcastle last time out and is proven third up so should be hitting her peak.

She steps up to the mile for the first time but is drawn for a soft run from the inside stall and her last-start rating suggests she'll measure right up.

Another bringing good form from NSW is Firestorm, who goes around in the Princess Stakes.

The former Kiwi filly kicked off for Chris Waller with a Kensington win two back then performed well against the boys when fourth in the G3 Carbine Club Stakes at Randwick last start.

She should be hitting her peak third up and is suited back against her own sex.
