Local and International success on Terang Cup night

Two of Australasia’s elite pacers emerged from the Terang Cup meeting with their Miracle Mile aspirations at the ready.

The Mark and Nathan Purdon trained Don't Stop Dreaming outclassed his rivals in the Cup after chasing home champion pacer Leap To Fame in the Cranbourne Cup a week ago.

Sent out a $1.85 favorite, Don't Stop Dreaming was allowed to settle at the rear of the field before Kate Gath embarked on a mid-race move to sit outside the leader Exotic Bushranger giving the second elect Keayang Tokyo the perfect trail.

Don't Stop Dreaming surged clear on straightening and was untroubled to score from Keayang Tokyo and Jilliby Nitro.

Gath conceded she went into the race with a degree of confidence after her charge pushed Leap
To Fame to within a couple of  metres at Cranbourne after sitting parked.

"From the draw I was going to have to come around and sit parked but it always looked as if he was capable of doing that and winning, given his run behind Leap To Fame last week," Gath said.

"He is really fast and a lovely horse to drive," she said.

Gath was satisfied the five- year- old is back to his best.

"His form may have dipped slightly but he is in really good form at the moment," she said.

Don't Stop Dreaming will head to Sydney on Tuesday where he will contest the Miracle Mile qualifiers in a fortnight.

Earlier in the night Gath partnered stable star Catch A Wave to an impressive over the 1680 metre sprint trip in the Morsbearings Pace.

Despite sitting parked outside Rock N Roll Doo, Catch A Wave ($1.65 fav) strolled to the lead shortly after straightening before bounding away in the run to the line.

Catch A Wave recorded a mile rate of 1:52.6 equalling Honalua Bay's track record.

"He settled really well and got a nice run into it and I was happy to race outside the leader for the last lap of the race," she said.

"I was happy with the way he ran away from them in the straight."

Gath believes Catch A Wave is well placed to launch a strong assault on a second Miracle Mile crown.

"He has come back better this preparation after Perth and he will go up to Sydney in really good form," she said.

Catch A Wave will contest the Miracle Mile qualifiers where the first two horses across the line will receive automatic entry into the $1m feature.

Later in the night the Marg and Paddy Lee prepared Keayang Chucky ($1.35 fav) atoned for his unlucky placing in the Great Southern Star Final when he produced his trademark late race sprint to take out the Terang Trotters Cup.

Jason Lee said he wasn't concerned when giving the leaders a tidy start around the home turn.

"They were humming early so the leaders were probably going to tire and Chucky is very fast- the other thing is that his main dangers Aldebaran Vera and Plymouth Chubb were both a bit underdone," Lee said.

Lee said Keayang Chucky is likely to race at Melton next week prior to a sojourn north where he will contest the Group 1 Hammerhead Mile at Menangle.
