Bronte Nieuwenburg has outlined her selections and suggested game plan for tonight's nine-race card at Ballarat. This meeting features champion trotter Just Believe stepping out in the John Slack Memorial Trotters Cup (Group 3) at 7.00pm.

R1 – 6.00pm – Del Re National Foods Pace  – 1710m

4 Carramar Olam

9 Terror Eyes

11 Valiente

13 Maas Betting Again

R2 – 6.31pm – Easywaste 2yo Maiden Pace – 2200m

3 Exclusive Hustler

1 Telern Lofty

8 Yankee Rain

10 Yawoma

Yankee Rain has been consistent throughout its career. It's likely to be no worse than three-fence and looks a good place chance here.

BACK: 8 Yankee Rain – 2 units (place)

R3 – 7.00pm – John Slack Memorial Trotters Cup (Group 3) – 2200m

9 Just Believe

8 Im Ready Jet

7 Arcee Phoenix

5 Harry Stamper

Just Believe is an Australian champion and is absolutely the deserving favourite in this field. Im Ready Jet's first-up run was huge and she's likely to improve significantly on that run. I am tipping her as an each-way chance due to her value in the market as I think we may be seeing the best of her this preparation. However, that's no disrespect to the champ.

BACK: 8 Im Ready Jet – 0.5 unit (win)/1.5 unit (place)

R4 – 7.36pm – Interclub Drop-In Centre Pace – 1710m

1 Hanover Jack

5 Foregone Conclusion

3 Goodtime Stryker

2 Icanmotor

Hanover Jack is a consistent runner and has James Herbertson driving it for the first time tonight. Goodtime Stryker's run looked good on paper last start however it was a very slow race. It will need to improve three seconds on that run to beat this field, and it looks like it could be a false favourite here.

BACK: 1 Hanover Jack – 1 unit (win)

R5 – 8.09pm – Cartridge Universe Ballarat Pace – 1710m

1 Alook To Like

3 Etiz Amodel

2 Asharah

8 Silver Domino

R6 – 8.36pm – Signature Support Services Pace – 1710m

9 Montana Pride

2 Midnight Mojo

6 Imagination Oro

8 Our Kinky Boots

R7 – 9.06pm – Southern Cross Business Machines Trot – 2200m

3 Tension Seeker

10 Mont Sally

1 Tetra

7 Astro

This field is full of horses I often avoid tipping. However, Tension Seeker I keep coming back to here. Sne finds a good barrier, she was strong last start and looks to be great value in the market.

BACK: 3 Tension Seeker – 1 unit (win) / 1 unit (place)

R8 – 9.37pm – Apco Service Stations Maiden Trot – 1710m

9 Coltrane

2 Kyvalley Mugsy

8 Sweet Maori Miss

3 Never Trot Lodge

Coltrane and Never Trot Lodge look to have the most ability but the worst manners in this field. The favourite Never Trot Lodge I am avoiding in this race as it often lives up to its name. Due to its desire to gallop, its career record consists of six educations, seven trials and three starts where it has galloped excessively. Coltrane has trialed well since moving to Emmett Brosnan and it was checked in its only race start. I am siding with Coltrane in the hope it does everything right.

BACK: 9 Coltrane – 2 unit (win)

R9 – 10.08pm – Cub Pace – 2200m

7 Rocknallovertheworld

1 Martythemartian

3 Rakajed

6 Hugo Maguire

Although he's first-up, Rocknallovertheworld looks to be the class runner in this field. He will likely be saved for one run and be flashing home late.

BACK: 7 Rocknallovertheworld – 1 unit (win)

** A betting unit is typically a percentage of the total bankroll or the amount of money you are willing to risk on a particular bet – for example 1 unit is 10% of your bankroll, therefore with a $100 bankroll 1 unit equals $10.
