Tabcorp Park Menangle Preview & Best Bets – Saturday, June 1

Menangle mile specialist Hi Manameisjeff looks beautifully placed when he makes his return to racing at Tabcorp Park on Saturday night.

The nine-race program also features the NSW Bred finals for two and three year-olds.

Race-by-race preview of Menangle, Saturday June 1.

Race 1: ALLIED EXPRESS APP PACE

BLUTO (5) led from a wider barrier and stuck on for a 4.2m second here last week in his first outing for six weeks. That will have improved him and he showed good promise in winning his first two starts in Australia earlier in the season. Can atone. JAY OK (10) has had a let-up since winning from the back row at Newcastle last start but has been kept up to the mark with a trial. Placed behind a couple of smart rivals here two back. Contender. PAS GUARANTEE (7) has won a trial since the first-up failure so should have come on and has won two of three second-up attempts so looking for a better showing. JILLIBY NITRO (6) draws better than when midfield last week and had recorded a win and two placings from his previous three starts here so can play a role.

Race 2: BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE

NICHOLAS CAGE (9) draws wider than last week but there was plenty to like about that performance when he led to score by 2.2m at this circuit. Solid effort when coming from a similar barrier to this two back. If things go his way he could win again. FOXY DADA (2) has chased budding star Extreme Sea when runner up in regional championship finals in his last two outings here. Ticking along well and the draw can see him play a role again. RAKADAN (6) found winning form two back before stepping up to this grade when midfield last week. Strikes at 50 per cent at this circuit and distance. Contender. SHADES OF HEAVEN (4) scored two back at Newcastle before chasing an in-form rival when runner up here last week. Should not have any excuses from the favourable draw.

Race 3: CORDINA CHICKEN FACTORY OUTLET PACE

WINDY HILL TARA (11) was well beaten when tackling a handy line-up of mares last week but the prior form was sound including a fourth here two starts back. She draws deep but she looks nicely placed at this level and is a NSW Oaks winner at this circuit. OUTSIDE FIGHTER (3) has been racing well and gave the hot favourite a scare when beaten just a head into second here last week. Should have no excuses from another advantageous draw. His latest form is good enough to put him right in the finish. VINKE B (7) draws deeper but continues to race consistently, winning here two back before finishing 1.4m behind Outside Fighter when placed last week. HAS THE COURAGE (5) could feature after solid recent performances through the Regional Championship series at this venue, the latest a sound third.

Race 4: GARRARDS LADYSHIP PACE

SWEET COCO (7) started a hot favourite at her Australian debut but did it tough when racing three wide without cover and finished down the track. She has been given three weeks to get over that and draws a couple of spots lower so is worth another chance. PANDAIA (8) has placed in both starts since winning at her first local outing, last time coming from this same barrier when beaten 2m into second. She must rate highly again. AMORE INFIDA (6) was edged out by a nose as favourite in a lower-graded race last time but had kicked off in Australia with back-to-back wins at this circuit so must be respected along with LITTLE BLISS (11) who draws widest but won from this barrier two back.

Race 5:  BESTINBEDS.COM.AU J D WATTS MEMORIAL

HI MANAMEISJEFF (5) appears for the first time since the Miracle Mile in March where he challenged Leap To Fame for favouritism but blew his chances with an early break. He was flying before that with a string of wins and the Miracle Mile was his only defeat in 10 appearances at Menangle. He is a distance specialist, winning all six attempts prior to the Miracle Mile and a scintillating trial win suggests he is back in tip-top order. TAIPO (7) kicked off the campaign with back-to-back placings before delivering a tough win here last time when he came from this same barrier. Race fit and can make an impact again. MAX DELIGHT (2) came from a wide barrier when he placed behind topliner Swayzee last week. He will enjoy a much lower draw. MACH DA VINCI (6) has yet to win when fresh but has trialled twice and his form last campaign was good so is worth including.

Race 6: CLUB MENANGLE WARATAH FINAL

REASON BEING (4) is a progressive pacer who kicked off his campaign with a second at this circuit before coming from wider when successful at his most recent outing by close to 2 metres at Bathurst. Should enjoy an economical run from this draw and won his lone third-up attempt so should be peaking. ERIC THE KICKER (3) comes to the city in fine form with four wins and a placing from his last five outings. Gave his opponents no chance last start when he cruised to a 21.6 metre victory at West Wyalong. Likely to enjoy an economical run from this draw. Another strong showing is on the cards. SALLY BIGTIME (5) put the writing on the wall with back-to-back placings before delivering a last-start win by 7 metres at Newcastle. Could go on with it. LUVTOO (12) draws deep but deserves respect off a last-start win by 1.6 metres at Wagga.

Race 7: HRNSW 3YO NSW BRED FINAL

HARMONY (11) is a promising colt who has won both starts this time in, scoring by 5.6m here fresh before coming from the back row to salute by a similar margin last time at Newcastle. Draws wide but is building a good record at this distance and won his only previous third-up attempt. Take beating. FORCE FULL (10) has been racing well from back row draws, scoring back-to-back wins before working to finish second last time at Newcastle. Another drawn deep but he is in form and has won here before. CHEEKY KISS (7) is hard to knock having won all three starts to date, racing parked but digging deep to get home narrowly last time at Penrith. DORRISTOPAYTHEBILL (12) must be included on the back of some solid recent form, placing in his four starts since a maiden win at Wagga.

Race 8: HRNSW 2YO NSW BRED FINAL

OTTOS WEALTH (11) has made the ideal start to his career by winning both starts to date, last time scoring by 2.2m as a hot favourite at Wagga. Draws wider but it is hard to knock what he has done so far and he looks capable of going on with the job. TWO CRACKED CORN (3) took on a G3 at this circuit two back then enjoyed a class drop when she scored a decisive win last time out at Tamworth, cruising home by 16.7 metres in an emphatic display. Led there so can push forward again from another good draw. Big chance. ANGELIC ATTITUDE (5) has yet to miss the top-two and comes off a maiden win last start by 6 metres at West Wyalong. Runner up to Ottos Wealth two back and is drawn to play a role. DANCE WITH CARMER (10) is worth including after placing in his last two outings at Newcastle.

Race 9: SKY RACING TROTTERS STANDING START HANDICAP

CALIGULA (12) resumes from a spell of six-and-a-half months having placed in both outings of last campaign. Starts from the 30m mark but is a two-time fresh winner and should be ready to go off two trial wins. TORO STRIDE (5) finished runner up in his first two starts of the campaign before breaking when well fancied last time. Race fit and if he gets it right he is a winning hope from the front mark. LEAF STRIDE (4) has been runner up in both starts since winning from a 30m handicap at this venue. Up in grade on last start but he drew wide there and went under by a neck in a similar race to this two back. SUNNY GEE (9) has placed in his last two outings and can be competitive again.

BEST BETS:

Race 1 #5 Bluto – Better for last week's hitout so can atone.

Race 7 #11 Harmony – Progressive and good enough to overcome the draw.
