Heats of the Maturity at The Meadows this Saturday are going to be superb.

As always heading into an age restricted series (born on or after January 1, 2023), there's ones that already ooze star factor, and some that haven't necessarily made themselves known on the big stage of metropolitan racing, but go really well. We'll learn more when fields land on Wednesday afternoon.

Here's five dogs of interest that we're likely to see.

Slick Splits
Plenty of upside with him. Good qualities that are likely to, and in some cases already have, stood up in good races. You could argue he lacks a half length early to take the next step, but with the progression he's shown that may come when he needs it most.

Keep Rolling
He took seven starts to get moving, but his last four runs have been very solid. At this stage his best asset is his strength. His last outing at Sandown Park last week was his best yet, he had two dogs to navigate throughout the race and forced a gap turning for home, which is an invaluable quality.

Wyong Dallas
In his first 15 starts he didn't miss a spot on the podium, but his last five haven't been as easy, which in fairness have included a Launching Pad and Harrison-Dawson. He's got Group race pace and meets this series at a great time of his career.

Tribeca
When he won the Vic Bred Maiden final on Australian Cup night his promise was infinite. He's since proven to be his own worst enemy, with his habit of recklessly forcing his way towards the rail. But, he went very well at Geelong last Friday. An inside draw is absolutely vital.

It's Mikado Time
There's some X-factor here. Initial feeling is that the tail end of 525m is going to be a big test, but he's got some serious speed to burn. Last two runs at Bendigo have been hot, if he's able to step well, combining that with his turn-of-foot is going to produce a good watch.
