Trained by the unstoppable Team Thompson, Flying Zulu flew the lids and crossed with ease from box seven, holding off decorated Deadly Avenger and a strong finishing Mepunga Reward to win at double figure odds.

"To see him come out and cross a field like that, I am blown away," Seona Thompson said.

"He is an old marvel."

Flying Zulu's Harrison-Dawson win was his second Group 1, having claimed the Brisbane Cup last year.

Jason Thompson had three contenders in the 2025 edition of the Harrison-Dawson. Pre-race favourite Tim Zoo and Field Day, who finished fourth and fifth respectively.

"When the box draw came out, I thought the other two were drawn beautifully and thought if he can somehow be up there and have a little bit of luck, he might run into a placing."

Flying Zulu (7) wins the Harrison-Dawson in a time of 29.16 seconds over Deadly Avenger (6) and Mepunga Reward (4).

Flying Zulu is a son of Orson Allen and Cyclone Jebel and is owned by Seona Thompson.

His 55-start career has seen him claim victory on 27 occasions and bank $105 short of $1 million dollars.
